  1. Joao Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim are two of the bosses of the bossa nova and he has a great following. I first purchased this as an LP when I was in high school in the 60's. Now it has been expanded in this re-issue with tracks I have never heard before - Outstanding/5(10).

  4. Born in Juazeiro, Bahia, Brazil, singer/song writer João Gilberto will always be the legend of bossa nova. While Antonio Carlos Jobim set the standard for the creation of bossa nova in the mid-’50s with songs like “The Girl From Ipanema” and “Desafinado”, it was Gilberto who brilliantly reimagined (and, arguably, defined) the genre.
  5. João Gilberto is credited by some with writing the first bossa nova, or new beat. This midth century musical gift to the world drew on Brazil's African-influenced samba tradition, but was performed without the usual battery of drums and rhythm instruments, and at much lower volumes.
